Huracán Harvey: Al menos cinco muertos y dos mil heridos ha dejado el temporal en Texas

La Casa Blanca informó que el Presidente Donald Trump viajará al lugar el martes.
Al menos cinco muertos y dos mil heridos ha dejado el paso del huracán Harvey en el área de Houston, donde viven 6,5 millones de personas, yprovocó “catastróficas inundaciones”.
El Servicio Meteorológico de EE.UU. informó en su página web del cierre de los principales aeropuertos de la ciudad, Hobby International Airport y George Bush Intercontinental Airport, así como la evacuación inmediata de uno de los hospitales más importantes de Houston. En total, más de 3.000 vuelos han sido suspendidos, segúnFlight Aware, un programa que sirve para rastrear el recorrido de los aviones.
Por su parte, el alcalde de Houston, Sylvester Turner, solicitó a la afectados a que no colapsen el número de emergencias 911 y les aconsejó que, si el agua inunda sus hogares, suban directamente a los tejados de sus casas, en vez de refugiarse en áticos, donde pueden quedar atrapados.
“Esta tormenta no romperá nuestros espíritu. Estamos en esto juntos y reconstruiremos (la ciudad) para que sea incluso mejor que antes del Huracán Harvey”, escribió Turner en Twitter.

Según el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, el agua podría llegar a alcanzar la cifra récord de 1,27 metros en algunas partes de Texas, mientras que en Houston es posible que legue a 76 centímetros de altura.
Ante esta emergencia, la Cruz Roja ha abierto 35 albergues en Texas y Luisiana, estado que también sufre los efectos de la tormenta.
Desde la Casa Blanca anunciaron que el Presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, viajará el martes a Texas para evaluar los daños.
Por su parte, el Mandatario informó de su visita al estado 28 a través de su cuenta de Twitter, donde aseguró que “iré a Texas tan pronto como ese viaje se puede hacer sin causar interrupciones. El foco debe ser la vida y la seguridad”.
I will be going to Texas as soon as that trip can be made without causing disruption. The focus must be life and safety.
